Biomethane Gaztech Pvt Ltd (BGPL) was founded with a commitment to environmentally sustainable projects and renewable energy solutions, with a focus on the CBG sector. BGPL’s core team has combined experience of 60+ years in the Renewable Energy market, especially dealing with Indian Oil & Gas PSUs and large multinationals.
At Biomethane Gaztech Private Limited (BGPL), we are pioneering a sustainable and innovative approach to energy/fuel production through the use of Biogas/digestion technology and are dedicated to harnessing the power of organic waste to create renewable energy solutions of Compressed Biogas (CBG) that benefit both the environment and society.

Our Core Team

SUBODH KUMAR

Chairman of Biomethane Gatech Pvt Ltd is a former Executive Director (Petrochemicals, Alternate Energy & Sustainable Development), Indian Oll Corporation Ltd. a Fortune Global 500 Company, and a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise of the Government of India.

Has 38 years’ experience in the field of Petroleum Marketing, Alternate Energy and Sustainable Development. He was actively involved in increasing the portfolio of IOCL in the areas of Solar, Wind, Nuclear, Bio-fuels, waste to fuel etc. along with planning and monitoring sustainable development and climate change mitigation & adaptation activities. He has been instrumental in Indian Oil’s foray in alternative fuels like the production of ethanol from lignocellulosic bio- mass sources, the production of Bio-CNG from various waste streams and exploring opportunities in electric mobility towards setting up charging stations and battery manufacturing facilities. He has also been a pioneer in the implementation of decentralized solar solutions in retail outlets (petrol pumps) across the country. He is also spearheading the critical Petrochemicals group towards the creation of new business opportunities. 

He has served on the Boards of various companies in the biofuels and clean energy space:

He is actively associated with various industry bodies such as Confederation of Indian Industries-Bioenergy Task Force; Biodiesel Association of India and Indian Federation of Green Energy, as Advisor/Co-chair/Chair. He is also a consultant on biofuels to the Asian Development Bank. He worked closely with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, in conceiving and launching the Sustainable Alternative towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) program for promoting the production and use of compressed biogas in India and now he is associated with us on our journey of establishing compressed biogas Plants.

BABAR SHAH

Managing Director, Engineering graduate from Faculty of Engineering and technology, JMI with master’s in marketing from Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai. He is 39 years old and has over 16 years of experience in the waste to energy sector in India including Biogas to Power and Compressed Biogas plants.
He has worked with many established multinational companies like CLARKE ENERGY, QUIPPO ENERGY, and CUMMINS in the key role position and plays a crucial role in developing the organization’s long-term strategic plan, analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and internal capabilities to formulate strategies for growth and sustainability.
He is a waste-to-energy professional, with a specialization in the Biogas to power and compressed biogas sector, a dedicated expert in the field of sustainable waste management and renewable energy production. He possesses a unique skill set and expertise focused on harnessing the energy potential of organic waste materials. His work involves the design, development, and operation of biogas facilities that efficiently convert a wide range of organic feedstocks, including agricultural residues, animal dung, food waste, and sewage sludge, into compressed biogas (CBG). In addition to the technical prowess, he is knowledgeable about regulatory requirements, sustainability standards, and and renewable energy policy frameworks.

 Experience of working in a collaborative manner with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private companies, and local communities, to implement and manage CBG projects that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting circular economy principles, shaping a sustainable and eco-conscious approach to waste management, renewable energy production and providing clean energy solutions for a greener future.

During his professional tenure he has established various waste to energy projects based on “Anaerobic Digestion” such as gas to power plant in sewage treatment plant, Biogas generation from food industry effluent treatment plant for power generation, Biogas generation from Slaughterhouse waste, Biogas generation from food waste (potato), Biogas generation from spent wash in Distilleries and Compressed Biogas plant based mix feedstock (Cow dung Supplemented with Press Mud / Poultry Litter)

KASHIF HASAN

Executive Director is an engineering graduate from National Dairy research Institute (NDRI), Karnal (Haryana) and an MBA in Marketing from S P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai (Maharashtra). He has an experience of more than 13 Years in various aspects of Natural Gas business including pipeline laying, LNG/R-LNG trading, Consulting City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies in India, Commercial Contract management etc.
During his tenure of 7 years with GAIL (India) Limited, a leading Indian integrated energy company, he held key roles in marketing of natural gas wherein he was instrumental in strategy formulation for development of natural gas market across India i.e., all the 11 Zonal offices of GAIL signed various MoU’s with Government departments. Amongst various other roles, he also served as Member of Committee on TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan- Pakistan-India) Pipeline project. He was responsible for gas market development during his 4-year stint at Delhi Branch Office of GAIL, Gas Sales Agreements were signed by him for providing pipeline connectivity to 21 new customers across regions like Haridwar, Rudrapur, Bahadurgarh and Bawal with a total qty. of about 1.2 MMSCMD and an incremental annual revenue of INR 1220 Crs.

Post his stint with GAIL, he founded the company, ZAK Venture Pvt Ltd, and enabled the company to foray into Gas Pipeline (infrastructure) business. He has been instrumental in taking the revenue of ZVPL single-handedly to 32+ Cr in a span of 6+ years and diversify the operations to Compressed Biogas (CBG) and Auto LPG Dispensing Station (ALDS) Business segments. Under his leadership, the company is comfortably sitting with an Order book of more than 100+ Cr under execution.

Due to his strong belief in the potential of the Compressed Biogas (CBG) business in India, he took over a Biogas to Power plant in Patiala in 2018 and operated it for 3 years before going forward for establishing standalone CBG Plants. Currently, he is overseeing the construction and commissioning of 3 CBG Plants of 5 MTPD capacity based primarily on raw materials like Cow Dung, Napier Grass, Press Mud etc. He and his team are working tirelessly, towards establishing 100 MTPD CBG Projects by 2026-27, a feat which would be commendable to achieve for a first-generation entrepreneur who started with nothing but an industry experience of 7 Years.
